Howell Marine Consulting (HMC) are looking for a Consultant / Principal Consultant. Welcome to HMC Managing our marine space requires innovative solutions to deliver sustainability for our environment, our economy and our society. HMC work across the science policy interface to provide clients in the public, private and NGO sectors with the advice and expertise to enable effective and sustainable solutions for the management of our oceans.
We work across all areas of marine policy and management including the strategic delivery of a Blue Economy approach, offshore wind, marine conservation and MPA management, marine spatial planning, fisheries, marine consenting, the integration of marine science into government decision making and developing and delivering training.
You’ll play an important role in:
Leading and supporting the delivery of key projects for HMC across our work areas
Consolidating existing services and developing new areas of work
Representing HMC with clients and the wider marine community through conferences, articles and blogs.
To succeed you’ll need:
Post graduate degree in relevant subject area
At least 5 years experience working in marine policy or management
Experience working within or alongside intergovernmental, regional or national governmental bodies, either in the UK and internationally
An ability to collaborate, influence and build trusting, highly effective client and stakeholder relationships
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The ability to think strategically and innovatively and to use your professional judgement decisively in decision making, informed by evidence.
Please note that this role will be UK home based but will require some travel to work with clients in the UK and overseas. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
